Bio
Hi. I’m a writer.
I used to work for a newspaper in the northern reaches of Alberta, but these days I call Boulder, Colorado home and mostly write for the Internet.
I’m a bit of a geek, if you didn’t figure that out. I edit the manuals project over at MakeUseOf.com, a dream job for someone like me who loves keeping up with the latest in the technology sector. I also cover the Boulder startup scene for BoulderiJournal.com, an up-and-coming digital newspaper that’s part of an entire network of Colorado publications. One of my hobbies is Technophilia Technology Podcast, a show I do with other tech writers from around the world.
In my free time I like to retreat from the mountains…away from technology. I don’t know how people stay sane without doing that from time to time.
Political Views
I grew up on a dairy farm near Smithville, Ontario, a small town in the center of the Niagara peninsula. Growing up I didn’t really understand the difference between liberal and conservative and it never really mattered.
Then I attended Calvin College and learned what ideology is. Talking to conservatives there I learned that many conservatives are stupid. Since that time I’ve met many stupid liberals as well.
My conclusion: ideology makes people stupid. Let’s solve problems instead.
