Hi, I’m Justin.

I’m a journalist who helps people get more out of technology. I believe that computers and phones are tools, not a way of life.

I write articles that solve problems for readers so they can focus on what matters most to them (instead of what matters most to the quarterly projections of tech companies). I do this by writing tutorials, features, and essays for publications like WIRED, Popular Science, and PCMag. In the past I’ve written for Lifehacker, The Atlantic, and The Wall Street Journal, among others.

Basically, you’ve ever searched online for a specific tech problem, the odds are you’ve read my work. I’ve been doing this for fifteen years, writing thousands of articles read by millions of people every month. Honestly, though, I don’t care much about the numbers—what motivates me are the comments and emails from people telling me what I wrote helped them.
