One week into migrating from dot social and around 3000 of you have made it over here. Welcome! There’s 2000 stragglers still over there, many of which seem to be active accounts. Does anyone have an idea of how long these migrations take? Could I be holding it up in some way without realizing it?

@JustinPot what does your Sidekiq queue look like?
edit: I see you're not running Mastodon. Unsure how to check what's going on with WordPress ActivityPub. But your website is loading so slowly or giving 503 errors when I open it, so I'm guessing resource constraints.
@JustinPot one week seems odd, but what you could try is deleting the redirect on .social, then creating it and running the migration again. Should be no issue with that.
This is all good advice! Yeah the site crashes after I publish. It’s very possible I need to look into a more powerful server setup. To be clear new followers are trickling in every once and a while, but if that stops completely I’ll try restarting the process.
It looks like dot social only lets you migrate accounts once per month, so I’ll just have to wait it out and try again then if things don’t sort themselves out. An entire instance migrated over this morning so it seems like the process hasn’t frozen entirely.
200 more followers just made it over, so I guess the process is still going! It’s interesting if nothing else. 1.9k followers left to migrate.
@JustinPot congrats on the move
now you can do cool things like switch to glitchsoc
@JustinPot I would concur that a week seems odd..
I left the mothership in early ’23 and I think the migration took a few hours, maybe overnight.
of course less cats needed herding…
@dannotdaniel I’m just using my WordPress website and I’m not sure if a migration this large has even occurred to a WordPress install before. I’m sure I’m screwing up in various ways. But every couple days another server migrates people over.
Stalled out! Around 1900 followers, many of them active, are stranded on dot social. I think I made a mistake in trying to migrate to WordPress. Maybe I’ll re-starting the process in a couple weeks.
this is the way.
